December 2018

The “Annual Poinsettia Give Away” is always a end of the year highlight and was well enjoyed once again. A review of 2018 and goal setting for 2019 was started. A non-dental goal for 2019, is to switch the building lighting to the newest LED products. With well over 300 plus fluorescent lights, we are weekly changing burned out bulbs. I expect at least a 50% reduction in lighting cost (electricity, bulbs) going forward. It also will significantly decrease our electric footprint, possibly making solar and option in the future.

November 2018

The annual meeting of the American Dental Association (ADA) was held in Hawaii. Unfortunately, I was not there. I did have have fun month in the office and continued my Orthodontic classes. Housecleaning was the theme at the office, as we started going through every cabinet and reorganized and cleaned house. Next year, the ADA meeting will be in San Francisco (both my kids live there) so I am pretty sure I will be flying west and attending the meeting and visiting the kids.

October 2018

As I mentioned in September. “Changing materials and techniques”.  We are adding another tool to help us provide better care. The Itero dental scanner allows us to scan an individuals teeth. This scan gives us the ability to digitize and individuals dentition and can be used for orthodontics, crowns, implants, dentures, monitor tooth wear and the list goes on. The equipment is ordered we look forward to training and implementation.

September 2018

Orthodontic Classes have begun again. It is absolutely amazing how techniques, materials and expectations have changed through the years.

August 2018

School Starts – Care packages are assembled.  This year we put together toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental educational books, dental theme decorations, and sent them to the Carbon County Head Start and the new Lehighton Elementary center. At the office, we really try and hope to get dental education started early and materials available to those in need.

July 2018

A recharging of the batteries was the theme for July. The office was closed and one of our longer periods of times (11 days). It was nice to have a little longer than usual vacation.

June 2018

New Orleans! My family met me in this southern city for the annual Academy of General Dentistry meeting. The highlight was receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award. Less than 300 hundred dentists in the country have ever achieved the award. Thus, it was well appreciated and awesome to have my family with me as i walked across the stage.

May 2018

I continued by one on one classes with Invisalign. Education as only modern technology can provide. Weekly, I log into Invisalign and enjoy a class with one of the Invisalign orthodontists. We are able to review current cases, future cases, trouble shooting and all other aspects of providing Invisalign care. I look forward to staying in this program.

April 2018

The Pennsylvania Academy of General Dentistry held their annual meeting in Allentown, Pa. Over the 4 day event, i not only had a chance to learn dental materials from vendors but also expanded my knowledge in Implants, dentures, general dental care and guitar making ( a brief road trip to Martin Guitar was enjoyed by all.

February 2018

Children’s dental health month was celebrated by giving away hundreds of toothbrushes to children, along with pencils, coloring books and educational information. It was our 20th year of supplying 2nd grade at Franklin Elementary with dental gifts. On the education front, Dr. Everett completed classes in Radiology, Infection Control and Child Abuse.
